Clinic connector to open in the spring

A new coffee shop and a clinic connector providing a main street entrance are two projects to be completed in 2016 at Columbus Community Hospital.

Since Columbus Community Hospital opened the doors to a new over 11,000 square-foot surgical center, additional remodeling and construction has been completed. The Prairie Ridge Health Clinic, located on the hospital’s north side, was remodeled and is open inside the Columbus Clinic. The Columbus Clinic entrance, which now features a canopy for easy drop off, was remodeled and is now provides access to the Prairie Ridge Health Clinic and the clinic of Elizabeth Larson, MD.

Several parking lots on the campus have been repaved and revamped to increase the number of parking stalls available for patients, visitors and hospital staff. The Wellness Walkway reopened this past fall, and although closed for the winter, will be ready for use once the snow melts.

A clinic connector and new coffee shop adjacent to the hospital’s main entrance is slated to be completed in March 2016.

“I’m hoping that the connector and coffee shop will allow people to spread out in the space,” said John Russell, CCH President and CEO. “I think it is going to make our facility feel even more welcoming.”

The clinic connector will complete CCH’s main street design, allowing access to all areas of the hospital from one convenient entrance.

The coffee shop, temporarily located on the hospital’s ground floor within the cafeteria, will be moved back to the hospital’s first floor near the main entrance. Coffee by local roasters, real fruit smoothies, and an expanded menu including gourmet desserts, salads and sandwiches are just a few of the new coffee shop’s features.

“All of the recipes have been created by our executive chef,” said Emily Briggs, CCH Manager of Food and Nutrition Services.

In addition, the first floor location will provide convenience to visitors and is designed to enhance privacy for both patients and those in the coffee shop.

Columbus Community Hospital does not have any immediate plans for additional remodeling in 2016. “We will continue to make the changes necessary to meet the needs of the communities we serve,” said Russell.
