The Respiratory Therapist is responsible for performing assessments designed to gather data relevant to the patients individual respiratory care needs, developing a plan of care, implementing the plan, providing treatment and diagnostic services, organizing care, and evaluation of the effectiveness of the treatment/care provided.  The Respiratory Therapist performs pulmonary function testing, sleep oximetry testing, EKG services and a variety of other services.  The Respiratory Therapist is also responsible for patient, family, and staff education as it relates to patient’s pulmonary condition...

Job Description:

Performs Assessments designed to gather data relevant to patient’s individual needs. Develop/implement plan of care to meet individual patient/family needs. Conduct Pulmonary Function Testing and ensure it is read. Administer patient nebulizer treatments. Setting up and monitoring of patients on artificial ventilation. Responsible for airway management. Drawing of Arterial Blood Gases, and ensuring they are delivered to the lab. Setup and monitoring patients on a CPAP and Bi-PAP. Monitoring Sleep oximetry. Insertion of IV’s. Perform spirometry. Provides asthma education and teaches smoking cessation classes. Performing of EKG’s on inpatients and outpatients (MUSE). Performs Cardiac Stress Testing including exercise stress testing, Cardiolite and Persantine. Holter monitoring; Setup and downloading of results. Performs Event monitoring set-up and patient education. Assist physicians with bronchoscopy. Oximetry checks on inpatients and outpatients. Metered Dose Inhalers administration. Performs Pulmonary Rehabilitation according to established protocol.Assist with employee fit testing. Assist with development, data collection, and resulting departmental Quality Program.


Preferred Skills:

Associate degree from an accredited Respiratory Therapy program. Registered as a Respiratory Therapist. Valid license in these state of Wisconsin. CPR Certification. ACLS Certification preferred.
