Job Description:

Assists the pharmacist with the management of the pharmacy medication inventory including: ordering, price review and comparing, receiving, organizing, labeling, distributing, monitoring levels, inventorying and returning medications. Assists the pharmacist with IVs preparation including: compounding, labeling, ensuring pharmacist review and delivering. Perform all functions relating to the Pyxis system including: filling, entering and removing drugs from the computer system, removing outdated drugs, printing reports, changing medication information in the computer, and quality assurance activities. Monitoring Narcotics including: receiving, logging in, storage, and completing the DEA sheet. Entering patient charges into the computer system, assisting with establishing and monitoring the charges for medications, entering direct charge programs into Pyxis, and entering and reviewing both individual and batch charges. Modifies orders with a physician request. Fills the medication cart and delivers medications to the individual units. Assists pharmacist with patient medication information documentation including entering orders, logging charges, printing the drug info sheets, and other information as needed. Maintaining records, preparing bills, and sending medications requested by clinic, outside pharmacies, and other contracts. Set up, labels and logs unit dose medications. Assisting the pharmacist with the departmental QME. Other duties as assigned.

Preferred Skills:

  • High School diploma or GED certificate with associated experience.
  • Pharmacy Technician certification desirable.
  • Computer literate.
  • 3 years hospital experience desirable.
