The Columbus Community Hospital Women’s and Childbirth Services Department recently delivered coats, snow pants, boots, hats, mittens, scarves and other outerwear to Kindred Kids in Columbus, as a result of the Keeping Kids Warm outerwear drive held at CCH during the month of October. The drive was organized by the department as a way to give back to families in the area and ensure that children have outerwear for the winter months.
Wendy Simyab, founder and executive director of Kindred Kids, said that Columbus and Fall River children who need outerwear may pick up the items at no charge at the store during her regular business hours. The store, located at 146 W. Mill Street in Columbus, is open Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays from 12 p.m. – 5 p.m. and also by appointment by calling 608-438-5844.
Kindred Kids’ mission is to assist special needs children. Families may join Kindred Kids for $5 per month or by donating two hours of service at the store or on a project. The membership allows the family the ability to check out toys for their use. Gently used clothing is also sold for $1 per outfit. Funds raised are used to assist children with special needs.
